Common questions
How does swiping work?
The app shows your photos and videos one at a time. Swipe right to keep an item, or swipe left to mark it for deletion. You can also use the Keep and Delete buttons. If you change your mind, tap Undo straight away.
Does swiping delete my photos?
No. Swiping left only marks an item. Nothing is deleted until you open Review (the trash button), tap Delete, and confirm in the dialog that iOS shows.
How does deleting work?
Everything you mark collects in Review, even across several sorting sessions. Check the list there, restore anything you want to keep, then tap Delete. iOS asks you to confirm before anything is removed.
If you use iCloud Photos, deleting also removes the items from your other devices. Items in a Shared Library are removed for everyone in it.
I deleted something by mistake.
Open the Photos app → Albums → Recently Deleted. Deleted items stay there for about 30 days, and you can recover them from there.
I marked something by mistake.
Tap Undo right away, or open Review, tap the item, and choose Restore.
Why is the storage freed only an estimate?
iOS does not tell apps exactly how much space a photo uses, so the app works out an estimate from what iOS does share. Video sizes cannot be estimated this way, so they are left out of the total. Space also returns to your iPhone only once items leave Recently Deleted.
The app shows no photos.
Shreddr needs Full Photos Access to show and sort your whole library. If you choose Limited Access, sorting pauses; anything you have already marked and your progress stay saved. To continue, open the iPhone Settings app → Privacy & Security → Photos → Shreddr and select Full Access.
Where is my progress saved?
On your iPhone only. The app never sends it anywhere. Continue sorting picks up where you stopped, even after you close the app.
Which languages does the app support?
English and Simplified Chinese. The app follows your iPhone’s language. To choose a different one, use Language in the app’s Settings.
Does the app collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Read our privacy policy.
